Some Things To Check Before You Call For Furnace Repair:

Typically a few times a year we get a call from residents here in Plymouth saying that they need furnace service and when our technicians get out to the calls we find that the issue is something as simple as their thermostat being set incorrectly. It's of course possible to avoid problems by checking these things before you give us a call, but if the problem ends up being larger we will fix your issue as soon as possible.

  • To begin, ensure that your furnace system has electric power. Make sure that your main furnace switch is on. This switch is generally a traditional toggle switch that could have a red cover-plate. Check your circuit breaker panel into your electric panel to ensure that your heating system breaker hasn't tripped.
  • Next, ensure that the gas to your furnace is on. Ensure the manual shutoff valve on the gas line to your furnace is turned "ON". If possible, verify for yourself that your home has natural gas available.
  • Afterward, check your home's thermostat. Be certain that the thermostat is on and functioning, set to heat, and the desired room temperature is set higher than the current ambient temperature. If your thermostat is outfitted with a battery, swap it out now.
  • If your furnace is running, but is not heating normally, you should inspect your filters and duct outlets. If you have a disposable filter, change it now. Verifiably, you should confirm that all of your house's supply registers and cold air returns are opened and unblocked.
